Porta Potties for Farms and Harvest Crews

What does OSHA require for farm field crews?
OSHA 29 CFR 1928.110 requires 1 toilet and 1 hand washing facility for every 20 workers when 11 or more people do hand labor in the field. Both must be within a quarter-mile walk. Field work lasting 3 hours or less a day, including travel, is exempt.
| Hand laborers in the field | Toilets | Hand washing |
|---|---|---|
| 10 or fewer | Not required by 1928.110 | Not required by 1928.110 |
| 11–20 | 1 | 1 |
| 21–40 | 2 | 2 |

Kentucky follows federal OSHA through its own state plan. Confirm details with your farm safety advisor. This is not legal advice.
Can a porta potty reach a field off a gravel lane?
A unit can reach a field when the lane is firm, about 10 feet wide and free of low branches. Our trucks handle dry gravel and farm lanes. After rain, soft hay ground can trap a truck, so we may set the unit at the field gate instead. Send a map pin of the spot.

Can you move units as harvest moves?
Units can be moved between fields on the same farm during a rental. Each move is quoted as one trip. Tobacco cutting, hay season and hemp harvest crews often move every 1 to 2 weeks. Plan moves on your service day to save a trip.
Questions people ask before they book
Do horse farm events need more units?
Horse farm events, sales and shows draw crowds far from the barn restrooms. Plan 1 unit per 50 guests and add a wheelchair-accessible unit for public events. Place units away from paddocks and loading areas.
Will cattle or horses damage the unit?
Livestock can tip or rub a unit. Place it outside the fence line or inside a small panel enclosure. Damage from animals is covered under our rental terms.
How much is a farm porta potty for harvest season?
A farm unit starts at $185 per 28-day cycle with weekly service, plus a hand washing station from $145 per cycle. Rural delivery is priced by ZIP.
