Porta Potty Rental Questions, Answered

These are the real questions people ask before they rent a porta potty in Frankfort and Central Kentucky, in their own words. Each answer starts with the fact you need.

Porta potty delivery and timing

Porta potty delivery in Frankfort runs Monday through Saturday, with same-day service when you call by 12 p.m. Towns 30 to 80 miles out need a call by 10 a.m. for same-day. Later calls get next-day delivery. Weekend events drop Friday and pick up Monday at no extra charge.

Can you deliver a porta potty today?

Same-day delivery is open Monday through Saturday when you call by 12 p.m. in the Frankfort area, or by 10 a.m. for towns past 30 miles. A rush fee starting at $75 is shown on its own line.

Can you get it here tomorrow?

Next-day porta potty delivery is our normal schedule across the whole delivery area. Orders placed any time before the end of the business day qualify. Next-day delivery carries no rush fee. Orders placed on Saturday get delivery on the next business day, since there are no Sunday routes.

What is the soonest you can deliver?

The soonest delivery is the same afternoon or evening when you call before the cutoff. Have the address, spot and unit count ready to save time on the call.

Why does same-day delivery cost more?

Same-day delivery costs more because it pulls a driver off a set route or adds a second trip. The rush fee starts at $75 and covers that extra drive. Next-day delivery skips the fee. The rush fee always appears as a separate line in your quote.

Do you deliver on Saturdays or Sundays?

Saturday porta potty delivery is available on request, but Sunday is not a route day. Sunday events get delivery on Friday or Saturday. Pickup then happens on Monday. Friday drop-off with Monday pickup costs nothing extra for a weekend event.

My event is Saturday. Can you drop it off Saturday morning and pick it up Sunday?

Saturday morning drop-off can be arranged on request for a Saturday event. Sunday pickup is not possible because there are no Sunday routes, so pickup happens Monday. A Friday drop-off and Monday pickup carry no extra charge. Tell us your preferred drop-off day when you book.

Why do you drop it off Friday and pick it up Monday if I only need it Saturday?

Friday drop-off and Monday pickup keep the truck away while your guests are there. The unit is also in place and ready well before the party starts. You pay the event price, not a three-day price. Thursday drop-off is also available if you need extra setup time.

Is there an extra charge for keeping it Friday through Monday?

Keeping a porta potty from Friday through Monday for a weekend event costs nothing extra. The event price covers the day before through the day after. Saturday drop-off is also available on request. Sunday pickup is not offered, because there are no Sunday routes.

My event is on a weekday. When would you deliver and pick up?

A weekday event gets porta potty delivery on the business day before and pickup on the business day after. The price is the same event price as a weekend. Same-day delivery is also possible when you call by the cutoff. Free date changes are allowed with 24 hours' notice.

Can you deliver Thursday instead of Friday?

Thursday porta potty delivery works for weekend events when you need extra setup time. The price stays the same as long as pickup is the following Monday. Tell us on the call that you want Thursday. The driver texts a photo once the unit is in place.

Can you give me a delivery time window?

Porta potty delivery comes in a morning or afternoon window, not at an exact time. The driver texts about 30 minutes before arrival. Exact times are not guaranteed because routes shift during the day. You do not need to be home if the spot is marked.

Will the driver call before arriving?

The driver calls or texts about 30 minutes before arriving at your address. After the unit is placed, the driver texts you a photo of the spot. Add gate codes or directions to your order notes. Those notes go with the driver on every visit.

How much notice do you need to book?

Two business days of notice is plenty for most porta potty orders. Same-day delivery works when you call by 12 p.m. near Frankfort, or 10 a.m. farther out. Weddings and big festivals should book several weeks ahead. Accessible units and restroom trailers are the first to run out.

How far ahead should I book for a summer weekend or wedding?

Book a porta potty 2 to 4 weeks ahead for a summer weekend. For a wedding, book as soon as the date is set. Restroom trailers and accessible units sell out first from May to October. Date changes are free with 24 hours' notice.

I am planning for next year. Can I get a quote now?

A quote for next year is fine, and we can hold the date for you. You can move the date for free with 24 hours' notice before delivery. Quotes go out by text or email. A booked order keeps its quoted price.

Can I change the delivery date after I book?

A booked delivery date can be changed for free with 24 hours' notice. The change works as long as a unit is open on the new date. Call or text the office with the new date. Event orders cancelled 48 hours or more before delivery get a full refund.

Do you have anything left for this weekend?

Standard porta potties are usually open for the coming weekend. Accessible units, flushing units and restroom trailers go fast from May to October. Call (502) 300-9969 to check what is open for your date. Same-day delivery is available Monday through Saturday before the cutoff.

When will you pick it up after my rental ends?

Pickup happens within 1 to 2 business days of your call or text to end a rental. Event units are picked up the business day after the event. Weekend event units are picked up on Monday. Monthly billing stops once the unit is picked up.

Do you work holiday weekends?

Holiday weekends like July 4th and Labor Day are open for porta potty rentals, but they book early. We deliver before the holiday and pick up after it. Book 2 to 4 weeks ahead for the best choice of units. Call early to hold accessible units and restroom trailers.

Service area and local questions

Taylor Portable Toilets Rental delivers across Frankfort, all of Franklin County and towns within about 80 road miles. That reach runs from Lexington to Louisville, including Georgetown, Shelbyville and Richmond. Delivery is priced by ZIP code and charged once per order to one address. Rural lanes and new lots without an address are fine too.

Do you service my town or ZIP code?

We serve Frankfort, all of Franklin County and towns within about 80 road miles. Give us the ZIP on the call. The service area page lists every county and city.

Are you a local company?

Taylor Portable Toilets Rental is a local company based in Frankfort, Kentucky. Taylor, the owner, runs the business. Every unit is delivered and serviced from Frankfort by our own crew. Call (502) 300-9969 Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Do you own your units and trucks?

The porta potties we rent are our own units, delivered and serviced by our Frankfort-based crew. The same crew handles weekly service on long rentals. Every unit goes out washed and stocked. Drivers text a photo after each delivery.

Will you deliver to a rural property with no street address?

Rural properties without a street address get delivery from a map pin, GPS coordinates or nearby directions. A sign or flag at the lane helps the driver find the turn. The lane should be firm and about 10 feet wide for the truck. Text the pin or directions after you book.

Can I give you GPS coordinates instead of an address?

GPS coordinates or a dropped map pin work well in place of a street address. Text them to the office after the call so the driver has them. Add notes on gates, landmarks or a job sign. Those details stay on your order for every service visit.

Will you deliver up a gravel road or to a cabin?

Gravel roads and farm lanes are fine when they are firm and about 10 feet wide. Steep, muddy or narrow roads may mean we set the unit at the bottom or at the gate.

Does distance from Frankfort change the price?

Distance from Frankfort changes only the delivery charge, because delivery is priced by ZIP code. Farther towns cost more to reach, but the unit price stays the same. Delivery is charged once per order to one address. Franklin County delivery starts at $65 round trip.

Can I visit your yard to pay in person?

Orders are not paid in person at our yard; they are handled by phone, text and email. You pay by card when you book, either on the call or through a secure link. All major cards and debit are accepted. The quote and receipt come by text or email.

Placement and access

A porta potty belongs on level, firm ground within about 15 feet of a drive the truck can reach. Keep the spot 10 feet from septic lids and wells, and off low ground. The truck needs a clear path about 10 feet wide. You do not need to be home on delivery day.

Where should the porta potty be placed?

Place it on level, firm ground the truck can reach, within about 15 feet of the drive. Keep it 10 feet from septic lids and wells, and away from food tables.

Can you put it in the backyard instead of the driveway?

Backyard placement works when the gate is at least 48 inches wide and the path is firm. Two crew members carry the unit from the truck to the spot. Accessible units need a wider path. Point out soft ground, steps or tight turns on the call.

Can you place it in a specific spot?

A specific spot works as long as the ground is level and the truck can reach it. Mark the spot with a cone, chalk or flag, or text a photo. The driver places the unit there and turns the door the way you want.

There is a gate. How does the service driver get in?

A locked gate is handled with a gate code, an unlocked gate on service day, or a text first. Pick whichever works best for your site. The driver sees your gate notes on every visit. Your service day stays the same each week, so you can plan ahead.

Will the driver look for a job sign if GPS fails?

The driver will look for job signs, flags and landmarks if GPS fails. Add them to the order notes when you book. A lot number or map pin also helps on new lots. A clear sign at the entrance saves time on every service visit.

Does the ground need to be flat?

The ground needs to be close to flat, with no more than about 1 inch of slope per foot. On hills, point out the flattest spot near the road. A tilted unit is hard to use and can tip. Firm gravel, pavement or dry grass all work.

Are low wires or trees a problem?

Low wires and branches can be a problem because they block the truck's lift. The truck needs about 14 feet of clear space overhead. Tell us about wires or trees on the call. We can then plan the approach or pick a different spot.

Can a porta potty go in a public park?

A porta potty can go in a public park with the park's approval. Events on Frankfort city property need a City of Frankfort special event permit first. Ask Frankfort Parks and Recreation about shelter or field rules. Once approved, we deliver to the spot the park assigns.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

You do not need to be home for porta potty delivery. Mark the spot with a flag or cone and unlock any gates. The driver texts a photo when the unit is placed. Add any access notes to your order when you book.

Can you move the unit after it is delivered?

A delivered unit can be moved for you, and the move is quoted as one trip. Please do not move the unit yourself. A full tank is heavy and can tip and spill. Call or text the office with the new spot or address.

Porta potty units and what comes inside

Taylor Portable Toilets Rental offers standard, wheelchair-accessible and flushing porta potties, plus hand washing stations and restroom trailers. Standard units have a seat, urinal, toilet paper and sanitizer. Accessible units add a ground-level door, grab bars and turning room. Flushing units add a sink, and trailers bring real toilets with air conditioning and heat.

What does a standard porta potty come with?

A standard porta potty has a seat, a urinal and a roof vent. It comes stocked with toilet paper and a hand sanitizer dispenser. A mirror and coat hook are inside too. See the standard unit details.

Does it come with toilet paper?

Every porta potty arrives with toilet paper already stocked. Long rentals get a restock of toilet paper at each weekly service. Busy sites can add twice-weekly service to keep supplies full. An extra service visit starts at $65 if you run low between visits.

Does it have hand sanitizer?

Every standard and accessible porta potty has a hand sanitizer dispenser inside. Flushing units go a step further with a sink, soap and water. Sanitizer is refilled at each weekly service on long rentals. For food events, add a hand washing station with two sinks.

Does the standard unit have a sink?

The standard porta potty has hand sanitizer but no sink. For soap and water, add a two-sink hand washing station or choose a flushing unit with a sink. Hand washing stations start at $125 for an event. Flushing units start at $275 for an event.

Can both men and women use the same unit?

Men and women can both use the same porta potty. Every unit is single-user and lockable, with a seat and a urinal. Only one person is inside at a time, so privacy is simple. Large events often add a separate accessible unit as well.

What do the units look like? Can you send a photo?

Photos of the exact unit type can be texted to you on request. Event units are newer shells in blue, gray or pink. Ask for a photo before you book if looks matter for your event. Photos come by text, so no email is needed.

Do you have different colors?

Porta potty colors include blue and gray as standard choices. Pink event units are available on many dates. Ask about color when you call, and we will note it on your order. We can text a photo of the unit type before delivery.

Do the units have a light inside?

Standard porta potties have no built-in light; they use daylight through the roof. For evening events, a battery tap light works well inside. A restroom trailer has its own lights for events that run past dark. Keep a lit path from the party to the units.

How big is a porta potty?

A standard porta potty is about 44 inches wide, 47 inches deep and 90 inches tall. An accessible unit is larger, about 7.5 feet square. A standard unit fits through a gate at least 48 inches wide when carried. The tank holds about 60 gallons.

Is an event unit different from a construction unit?

An event unit is different from a construction unit mainly in age and look. Event units are newer, cleaner-looking shells kept for parties and weddings. Construction units are built for heavy weekly use on job sites. Both arrive washed and stocked with toilet paper and sanitizer.

Do you have porta potties that flush?

Flushing porta potties are available, with a foot pump that rinses the bowl and a sink for hand washing. They carry their own water, so no hookup is needed. Event pricing starts at $275. See flushing units.

Do I need a water hookup for a flushing unit?

A flushing unit needs no water hookup at all. The unit carries its own fresh-water tank for the foot-pump flush and the sink. That lets it go on a lawn or field far from any spigot. In hard winter cold, the water lines can freeze.

Do you have handicap-accessible units?

Wheelchair-accessible porta potties are available, with a ground-level door, grab bars and a 60-inch turning space inside. The door is about 36 inches wide. Event pricing starts at $245. Plan at least 1 per cluster at public events. See ADA units.

Can I get one regular and one handicap unit?

One standard plus one accessible porta potty is a common order for parties and events. Both units ride on one truck, so you pay one delivery charge. Event pricing starts at $165 for the standard and $245 for the accessible unit. Place the accessible unit on firm, level ground.

Do you rent hand washing stations?

Two-sink hand washing stations are available for rent, with foot pumps, soap and towels. Each station holds about 40 gallons, enough for about 400 washes. Event rental starts at $125, or $145 per 28 days on a job site. See hand washing stations.

Do you rent restroom trailers?

Two-stall and three-stall restroom trailers are available for weddings and events. Each trailer has air conditioning, heat, lights and mirrors. A 2-stall trailer starts at $895 per event weekend. Book early, because trailers sell out first in wedding season. See restroom trailers.

Do I need water and power for a restroom trailer?

A restroom trailer needs a 110-volt, 20-amp outdoor outlet within 50 feet. Water comes from a hose spigot or the trailer's onboard tank. A generator can be added when the site has no power. Tell us where the outlet is when you book.

Do restroom trailers have air conditioning?

Our restroom trailers have air conditioning for hot summer days and heat for cool nights. Frankfort's July highs average about 88°F, so cooling matters for summer weddings. Each trailer also has lights and mirrors. The climate control runs on the 110-volt outlet at your site.

Do you have porta potties on wheels I can tow?

Porta potties on wheels for customers to tow are not part of our rental lineup. Every unit is delivered and placed by our crew. Call or text if the unit needs to go to a new spot. Restroom trailers are also delivered and set up by us.

What is the difference between a deluxe porta potty and a restroom trailer?

A deluxe flushing unit is a single portable stall with a sink and no hookups. A restroom trailer is a towed trailer with real toilets, vanities and climate control that needs power.

How many units

Most Frankfort events need 1 standard porta potty per 50 guests for every 4 hours. Add 1 more unit for every 5 when alcohol is served. Include at least 1 accessible unit and a hand washing station for food. Job sites do well with 1 unit per 10 workers on weekly service.

How many people does one porta potty serve?

One porta potty serves about 50 guests over a 4-hour event. On a job site, one unit serves up to 10 workers on a 40-hour week with weekly service. Longer events need more units to avoid lines. Add 1 extra unit for every 5 when alcohol is served.

I am expecting 100 people. How many units do I need?

A 100-guest event lasting up to 4 hours needs 2 standard porta potties. For an event over 6 hours, plan 3 units. With alcohol, add 1 more unit. Include at least 1 accessible unit, and add a hand washing station if food is served. Try the calculator.

Is one enough if guests only use it for a few hours?

One porta potty is enough for up to 50 guests over 4 hours. Past 50 guests or 4 hours, add a second unit to avoid lines. Alcohol raises use, so add another unit for every 5. Even a small public event should include at least 1 accessible unit.

How many for a crowd of 500?

A crowd of 500 for 4 hours needs 10 standard porta potties. Serving alcohol adds 2 more, for 12 in all. Each cluster needs at least 1 accessible unit, or 5% of its units. Add hand washing stations near food, about 1 for every 4 units.

How many hand washing stations should I add?

Add 1 hand washing station for every 4 porta potties when food is served. Every food event should have at least 1 station. A station's 40-gallon tank covers about 400 washes. Place stations near the food line and the restroom cluster.

How many stalls does a restroom trailer need for my guest count?

A restroom trailer needs about 1 stall per 50 guests for a 4- to 6-hour event. A 2-stall trailer covers about 100 guests. A 3-stall trailer covers about 150 guests. For 150 guests with a bar, plan a 3-stall trailer.

How many toilets does OSHA require on a job site?

OSHA requires 1 toilet on a job site with 20 or fewer workers. Above 20, the rule is 1 seat plus 1 urinal per 40 workers. At 200 workers or more, the rule is 1 per 50. We suggest 1 unit per 10 workers with weekly service. See the construction page.

Porta potty cleaning and servicing

Porta potty rentals longer than a week get weekly service on the same weekday at no extra charge. Each visit includes a pump-out, wash, sanitizing, fresh deodorizer and a restock. A dated tag inside the door shows the last visit. Twice-weekly service and extra visits are available for busy sites.

Does the rental come with cleaning?

Cleaning comes with the rental: rentals over a week include weekly service at no extra charge. Event units arrive freshly cleaned and stocked. Long multi-day events can add a mid-event service. An extra visit starts at $65 if you need one.

How often is it serviced?

Porta potties on long rentals are serviced once a week on the same weekday. Busy sites can add twice-weekly service. A dated tag inside the door records each visit. Large events with heavy use can add a mid-event service.

What does servicing include?

Porta potty servicing includes a full pump-out of the tank and a wash of the floor and walls. The crew then sanitizes the unit and adds fresh deodorizer. Toilet paper and hand sanitizer are restocked. From November through March, antifreeze goes in the tank too.

What day of the week will it be serviced?

Your service day is set when the unit is delivered and stays the same weekday each week. We tell you the day at the first service. The visit date is written on the tag inside the door. Ask for a text before service if you want notice.

Will I be told before servicing?

A text before servicing is available if you ask for one. The driver sends it while on the way to your site. Most sites need no notice, since service falls on the same weekday. Gates must be open or a code left on service day.

Can I get it serviced twice a week?

Twice-weekly service can be added to any porta potty rental. The extra visit appears as a separate line on your bill. Busy job sites and hot summer months are common reasons to add it. A single extra visit is also available, starting at $65.

For a one-week job, do I need it cleaned?

A one-week job usually needs no cleaning during the rental. The unit arrives clean and stocked, and the tank holds about 200 uses. Large crews may fill a unit sooner. In that case, add a second unit or an extra service visit.

Should a multi-day event get a mid-event service?

A multi-day event should get a mid-event service when each unit serves more than 50 guests a day. The visit pumps the tank, cleans the unit and restocks supplies. Book the mid-event service along with the rental. Campgrounds and overnight events benefit the most.

My unit smells. What can I do?

A smelly porta potty usually needs a service visit, so call or text the office and we send one. Placing the unit in shade helps in July and August. A second weekly service also cuts odor in hot weather. Extra visits start at $65.

Can you pump out a porta potty I own?

Our service routes are set up for rented units only. Call with your address and we will tell you if a visit to your own unit is possible. If a visit is not possible, renting a serviced unit is another option.

How do you keep units from freezing in winter?

Porta potties are kept from freezing in winter with non-toxic antifreeze added at each service. This runs from November through March and costs nothing extra. Place the unit out of the wind and keep the door shut. Standard units are the best pick for winter sites.

How do I know it was serviced?

You can tell a porta potty was serviced by checking the dated tag inside the door. Every visit is written on that tag, so the last service shows at a glance. Service falls on the same weekday each week. Contractors can keep the tag dates as their service record.

How does the 28-day billing cycle work?

Why is the first month more?

The first month costs more because the first 28-day cycle carries the one-time delivery charge. Later cycles cover only the unit and weekly service. A one-time pickup charge is billed at the end of the rental.

If I keep it a few days past 28 days, is it prorated?

Do I pay a whole month if I only need it for a few days?

You do not pay a whole month for 1 to 3 days, because short needs use event pricing. Needs of 4 days or more usually bill one 28-day cycle. Weekly service is included on a full cycle. Ask on the call which option costs less for your dates.

Can you match a competitor's quote?

Rental length, pickup and changes

An event rental covers the day before through the day after your event, at one event price. Monthly rentals bill every 28 days and renew until you call for pickup. We text a reminder 3 days before each new cycle. Event orders refund in full when cancelled 48 hours or more before delivery.

What happens if the unit is damaged?

Damage to a unit beyond normal wear is billed at repair cost; normal wear is on us. Fire, vandalism, graffiti, and tipping by vehicles or animals count as damage. Each charge is explained before you are billed. Details are in the rental terms.

Events, parties and weddings

Event porta potties arrive clean and stocked the day before your party and leave the day after. Weekend events get Friday drop-off and Monday pickup at no extra charge. Weddings with power usually choose a restroom trailer. Venues without power do well with flushing units that have a sink.

I am having a backyard party for 50 people. What do I need?

Will a porta potty keep guests out of my house?

What is best for an outdoor wedding?

A restroom trailer is the best choice for an outdoor wedding with power. Flushing units with sinks are best when the site has no power. A trailer needs a 110-volt, 20-amp outlet within 50 feet. Add 1 accessible unit for guests who need one. See wedding restrooms.
